Crown Moulding on Vaulted Ceilings.


A few years ago I wrote a piece on doing crown on vaulted (rake) ceilings (Photo1). I applied a technique where I used two of the same profiled mouldings but at different scales. Even though this approach is “technically correct” it almost always proves problematic. First there is the issue of finding or making the moulding that’s needed and there is a fair amount of mathematics involved in order to get things just right. Like I said in my original article; this technique isn’t for the faint of heart.

The Basics

Over the next few weeks I'm going to do some work on the basics. As many new woodworking buffs join this wonderful hobby, many really have no idea where to begin. With that in mind, I figured it be a good intro course.

Some of the topics I've tossed around are, tool choices, milling boards and basic joinery. So check back soon and see how that's all cooking ;-)
